The Greatest Acne Misconception Is The Hardest To Ignore

Posted by La Hunter on 23rd December 2009

Natural Herbal Skin Care

Posted by La Hunter on 11th November 2009

Skin CareHerbal skin care treatments have been around for many, many years and even though their popularity has waned, their effectiveness has not diminished. The natural ingredients in herbal preparations will still care for your skin, and keep it looking fresh and healthy, provided of course that you use a suitable concoction of herbal ingredients to address your skin type and condition.

The production of commercial skin care products has grown enormously over the past few decades, and this is partially to blame for the drop in popularity of herbal preparations. The market is full of over the counter skin care products that claim to keep skin looking youthful for many years, and to ease the symptoms of a broad range of complaints. Some of these products actually work while others are rubbish, some are expensive, others are reasonably priced. Their most redeeming feature however, is that they are convenient. No more lengthy mixing stuff at home, just simply pop into the drug store and for a few dollars you can choose a product that is ready to use.

With the hectic lives that most people lead these days, this seems like a logical thing to do, particularly as these synthetic products are vigorously marketed, whereas natural herbal products are not, as they can be prepared at home and the ingredients are relatively cheap.

Commercial herbal skin care products are available from health food stores, but more often than not these preparations include additives or coloring that makes the product look attractive and extends it’s shelf life. This practice tends to detract from the products effectiveness and may cause undesirable results for some users. This is not the case with all herbal preparations, but you must read the labels and satisfy yourself that the product you are about to purchase is natural or organic, and free from any additives.

Your skin is one of the body’s most essential organs, it needs proper attention, so why not take the time to pamper your skin with the many natural herbs, oils and fruits that nature provides.

Sensitive Skin Care And Acne Treatment

Posted by La Hunter on 8th November 2009

Acne treatment products must be carefully selected before being used by those with sensitive skin. Outbreaks of acne are to be regarded as a serious skin disorder, no matter how minor the outbreak may seem. When the disease attacks sensitive skin it can cause severe problems unless the symptoms are controlled with suitable skin care products. People with sensitive skin find that their skin is easily irritated when it comes into contact with certain materials including, plants, food, dust, fabrics, soaps and lotions. There are many products available to ease these allergic symptoms but unfortunately most will not deal with skin disorders such as acne.

Even people with normal skin types will find that certain soaps and detergents will irritate their skin to some degree, so it is imperative that those who have sensitive skin use only quality skin care products that are especially designed for sensitive skin. These products are available over the counter at various stores, or from a beauty parlor. Always read the labels and choose products that have the least amount of additives for preserving or coloring the product. Don’t use toners or other products that contain alcohol and always wear protective clothing and gloves when handling laundry detergents or other household chemicals.

When working outdoors or pursuing outdoor activities wear protective neck to knee clothing, as well as a good quality sun screen, and always avoid exposure to the afternoon sun. By keeping your body clothed while outdoors you will be protected from the elements, dust, the sun and minor cuts or bruises.

After coming home from work, when your outdoor activities are completed, remove any makeup by using an hypoallergenic makeup remover. then wash you face gently with cool water using a cleanser rather than soap. Don’t scrub the skin, just use your hands and then pat dry with a soft towel.

When an acne outbreak occurs, seek advice from a beauty consultant, who will recommend a suitable product that is safe to use on your particular type of skin. If the condition persists or gets worse then consult a dermatologist in order to obtain a prescribed medication that will control the disorder.

Celebrities Pee in Cups

Posted by La Hunter on 6th November 2009

This article includes details of skin care problems faced by Jacko, and the struggle he had with acne during his teens. Dermatologist Arnold Klein, also mentions some of the eccentric behaviour that many famous stars have indulged in.

Celebrities Pee in Cups and Have Genitals That Require Maps, Says Jacko Dermatologist

JackoSelf-proclaimed dermatologist to the stars Arnold Klein is not to be trusted, but he sure tells good stories, like the one about the time he rebuilt Michael Jackson’s nose and how celebrities liked to pee in weird places.

Klein donned his very best sequin-enhanced suit for a 96-minute interview to TMZ last night. “I’ve flown to Tokyo to see a patient. I’ve flown to the Middle East to see patients, where Jews shouldn’t go,” he explained. He’s treated Charlie’s Angels and mogul’s wives. He’s treated famous singers.

Famous people are not like the rest of us. For one thing, they trust men like this with their corporeal well-being. But they have other peculiar practices, too, which Dr. Klein was only too happy to outline.

Here are a few:

If at first their faces don’t succeed, they try, try again. When Klein last saw Jacko, he looked like crap, so “I rebuilt his face.” It was so far gone “we blew it up” and started with a fresh slate. “That’s why I rebuilt his nose. His nose looked perfectly normal [after he fixed it, in This Is It], right? Michael Jackson looked like a nose … It’s not like rebuilding Babylon, but you have to do a lot of work to do this.”

They like to pee in eccentric places. Asked how Jackson’s alleged 1993 molestation victim was able to describe “in great details discolorations and markings in Michael Jackon’s genitals,” Klein doesn’t miss a beat, first suggesting that the child had “studied the penis like studying a map,” then offers an reasonable explanation for how the study session came about in the first place: “He pees in cups. I guess he was raised in a situation where they peed in a cups. I know a very famous country singer who pees in bed because it was the only way to keep herself warm in bed in the country.”

They do not get addicted to crystal meth. Meth, Dr. Klein explains, is physically not addictive. “I could give Michael meth.” He had a long line of reasoning for this, which involved asking for a show of hands of who, on TMZ’s set, had ever had tried crystal meth. Unfortunately, nobody raised their hands, so I guess we’ll never know the secret to non-addictive methamphetamine, now.

They get creative with skincare. Jacko had very bad acne. “Do you know how much acne he had?” Klein asks, full of indignation. “He wouldn’t go to school. … He used to love to go and scrub his face with brillo. He thought it would cure his acne.”

They find Prince rather boring. Bad was supposed to be an M.J.-Prince duet, Klein says. But it fell through when Prince showed up at Jacko’s house and wouldn’t stop shut up. He talked and talked and talked and then, when he finally left, Jacko didn’t bother calling him back and the two-man version of the song never happened.

Treating Acne With Natural Skin Care Products

Posted by La Hunter on 29th October 2009

Natural skin care products, are the choice of many people who are suffering with acne. Natural products are considered to be safe to use, gentle to the skin, and free from the harsh side affects that are associated with some manufactured products. Most people are particular about the type of products they use on their skin, especially the face, where an unsuitable synthetic preparation can case an untold amount of damage, or at least embarrassment.

Natural skin care products maybe the answer to some people’s skin condition, however the more severe outbreaks of acne may not respond to natural skin care products alone, and a prescribed medication must be used to fight the disorder. By using a combination of natural products and prescription drugs, a severe skin disorder can be more readily controlled. This does not mean that the use of natural products should be abandoned, as they certainly do encourage the healing process. Prescribed medications are necessary at times to quickly kill bacteria and fight infection, which then allows the natural healing process to proceed unhindered.

Skin type and condition will determine the choice of, which natural products should be used. The popular belief that a natural skin care product will not damage the skin, is not entirely correct. People react differently to various preparations, this may be caused by additives that have been introduced during the packaging process, or concentrated substances, which irritate certain skin types. When purchasing facial skin care products, natural or otherwise, you must choose preparations that are suitable for your type of skin, and the skin condiion you are treating. For some people with delicate skin, this can be a daunting task, and they would be well advised to consult a beautician or health care professional, in order to obtain a safe range of effective preparations.

By adopting a healthy lifestyle, practicing a daily skin care regimen, and using natural skin care products that have been recommended for your type of skin, you will achieve a fresh, healthy and natural skin tone.

Care For Acne With Oily Skin

Posted by La Hunter on 25th October 2009

Oily skin causes many problems for the afflicted, not the least of which, is being susceptible to bouts of acne. Natural body oils are produced by the sebaceous glands to lubricate the skin and keep it supple, when too much oil is produced the result is an oily complexion. This condition by itself, is by no means serious, however extra care is needed to wash away excessive oil deposits in order to keep the skin looking fresh, and to prevent skin pores from becoming clogged with dead cells.

Clogged pores prevent the free flow of sebum, or oil, to the skin’s surface, this situation results in a build up of trapped oil that allows bacteria to breed and the development of acne pimples and skin eruptions. If this condition is not brought under control quickly it will ultimately lead to an extensive outbreak of common acne.

A good quality cleanser containing a mild astringent agent should be used to keep the skin free of excessive oil and dead cells. Of course, this does not mean to dry out the skin completely, our skin must retain a certain amount of fluid in order to keep supple and well toned. It is advisable to visit a qualified beauty consultant to have your skin checked. The consultant will be able to recommend the most suitable products for your skin condition. The cost involved is relatively minor considering the time saved by not having to shop around, and the cost of purchasing preparations that may be too harsh or otherwise unsuitable.

A daily routine must be established to keep the skin free of excessive oil. Gently wash with cool or lukewarm water twice a day, or more if you are in a hot, humid climate and prone to sweating. Another consideration is whether a moisturizer will need to be used in conjunction with the cleanser you are using to strike the correct balance in keeping the skin looking fresh and free of acne pimples.

Should an acne condition develop into an uncontrollable outbreak, consult a dermatologist for professional care and proper treatment.

Acne Prevention And Regular Skin Care

Posted by La Hunter on 21st October 2009

Acne is a common skin disease that can affect people from all walks of life. An acne outbreak can be identified by the presence of pimples, blackheads, cysts or unusual skin eruptions. The disease is incurable, but symptoms can be controlled by various means including, medicated cleansers, topical preparations, antibiotics and surgical procedures. Acne can spoil a persons appearance, rendering them self conscious even to the extent of becoming introverted. A serious outbreak of acne can also destroy a young person’s social and personal lifestyle, as well as hinder their professional career.

The first steps in avoiding the consequences of an acne outbreak is to adopt a healthy lifestyle and establish a daily skin care regimen. Cleanliness is an important factor in avoiding or treating acne. Wash the skin gently with cool water and a good quality cleanser twice daily without fail. Should any sign of acne appear, take action immediately to halt the infection. Become aware of natural or over the counter products that will prevent skin pores from becoming clogged, and use antibacterial cleansers to destroy bacteria before it can cause any problems. Apply a mild astringent lotion if the skin appears to be excessively oily and use protective creams before commencing work or performing outdoor activities.

People that need to wear make up, should choose products that are gentle and suitable for their skin type. It is best not to leave make up on for any longer than necessary, so it is a good idea to remove it soon after arriving home. Use a good quality make up remover and wash the face thoroughly, then dab the skin dry using a soft towel. If you are living in a hot humid place, take a cool shower before bed time to rinse away sweat and any dead skin cells.

When acne symptoms are present, there are several basic things that can be done to control the outbreak and stop it from spreading. Keep your hair and your hands off your face, and do not squeeze any pimples. Wear a clean change of clothes every day, and sleep in fresh pyjamas every night, turn the pillow case over after use and wash it every other day. If the body is in contact with the bed sheets, then they should be turned every day and washed every second day.

These are just a few basic sanitary precautions that will prevent bacteria from spreading to other parts of the body. Of course, if the acne outbreak persists and continues to develop, then a health care professional should be consulted.

Acne Treatments and Solutions

Posted by La Hunter on 16th October 2009

Acne is a common skin disorder that continues to defy those who have attempted to produce a cure. However, this does not mean that there is no relief for the dreaded symptoms of the disorder. There are many skin care products on the market that will substantially ease the symptoms of common acne. Acne skin care products can be generally described as follows:

* General skin cleansers that help to prevent acne from developing.
* Medicated preparations that are available over the counter.
* Preparations that are prescribed by a doctor for more serious outbreaks of acne.

General skin cleansers, make up removers and mild astringent solutions are used to help prevent acne outbreaks from occurring. Actually, the use of these skin care products should be part of one’s regular daily skin care regimen, in order to keep the skin clean and healthy. However, certain skin cleansers are specifically designed to cater for acne sufferers, and these are the products that should be used as a defense against the disease. By restricting the flow of natural body oil, and thus preventing the clogging of skin pores, cleansers containing an astringent agent will prevent oil from getting trapped in skin pores, which leads to the development of bacteria that allows acne outbreaks to form. These general skin care products also include exfoliation products that help the skin to naturally shed dead cells, and remove the chance of skin pores becoming clogged.

Medicated products that are available over the counter, include vanishing creams, which will remove surplus oil from the skin, as well as preparations that are based on benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. These agents kill bacteria and are particularly effective in the formation of pimples and blackheads. Moisturizers based on alpha hydroxy acid are quite effective in the control of mild acne outbreaks. If over the counter products do not control your acne or the condition becomes more extensive, then you would be well advised to consult a dermatologist.

Your dermatologist is qualified to prescribe more active preparations that are designed to control serious acne outbreaks. There are many solutions available to treat acute acne sufferers, including topical ointments, antibiotics and surgical procedures. If you are suffering from uncontrollable outbreaks of acne, don’t hesitate to consult a health care professional.

Natural Ways To Care For Your Skin

Posted by La Hunter on 24th March 2009

Natural looking, healthy skin is any person’s greatest attribute. If you want to look beautiful and be attractive, then you need to take steps to improve the condition of your skin. Spending a great deal of time pampering your skin may seem like an overindulgence, however this is not the case. By visiting your local beauty parlor regularly, and following a daily skin care regimen, your skin will radiate a natural beauty that cannot be ignored.

Below you will find a selection of skin care tips that are inexpensive and easy to administer.

You must determine your skin type first of all so that you can only use those products that are suitable for your skin. Various skin care preparations are designed for a set purpose and are to be used on a particular type of skin. Choosing an unsuitable product is not only a waste of money, but could do damage to your skin.

In order to maintain a healthy skin with a glowing complexion, your body has to be in good health, which means that you should eat healthy foods, get plenty of fresh air, do some regular exercise and drink plenty of fresh potable water. Drinking a glass of water at regular intervals throughout the day is good for your body, and for your skin.

Your skin needs to be thoroughly cleansed at least once a day. Begin your day by using a mild cleanser and a cool shower, don’t use hot water, as it will dry out your skin and cause problems. Wash your skin gently, using only your hands to apply your cleanser, and try to avoid using any soap on your face. If you apply makeup before you go out, always remove it when you get home and rinse your face with cool water. Relax in a lukewarm bath before going to bed at night, to gently remove any grime deposits that have accumulated during the day.

If you feel the need to exfoliate your skin, check with your beauty therapist first for advice. Scrubbing your skin can cause damage if you do it too often, or without proper care. There are preparations available that you can use to gently exfoliate your skin if the need arises.

Choose a good quality moisturizer that is suitable for your type of skin, to nourish and soften your skin. Dry skin is easily damaged and looks unattractive, so do your best to keep your skin moist by avoiding windy conditions and exposure to the afternoon sun. It is best to apply a moisturizer after your bath or shower.

When you work or play outdoors in the sun, always apply a good quality sunscreen to protect your skin from the damaging affects of the sun. This also applies on dull days, as the ultra violet rays from the sun are still active.

If you discover any abnormalities like sores, discoloration or scabs developing on your skin, take notice, don’t ignore these symptoms no matter how trivial they may seem, as they are an indication that something is not right. Treat your skin with care and respond to any outbreaks by consulting a health care professional.

Your skin is one of your bodies most important organs and proper care of your skin should be as natural as eating, breathing or sleeping.
