Danzan Ryu Jujutsu is a form of self-defense that combines the best techniques of the different jujutsu schools, martial arts and healing and massage practices. It is a comprehensive and probably the best established form of self-defense. It is extremely well-liked in the U.S. and there are many training schools for Dazan-Ryu.

The grappling arts that are taught are a part of the Shime Te list. They include chokes, constrictions and hold downs. Grappling causes more hurt than holds and throws. The throws, holds, escapes and grappling are united into 25 other techniques that are included in the Oku No Te list. A few of them are tiger throw, entering in, riding the body. Various circles, drops and captures are also taught.
